26th Annual Día de los Muertos Virtual Celebration
We are proud to present the 26th Annual Día de los Muertos season. This year Día de los Muertos will be a two-week-long Virtual Celebration via Zoom and Instagram Live.
Date: October 21, 23, 28, 30 and November 2, 2020.
Via ZOOM (Link will be sent out to all registered guests 24-48 hours before event)
A Timeline of Virtual Celebration:
- Wed. Oct. 21 at 6 PM: What is the meaning of Día de los Muertos? Share space with the community and learn about why we celebrate Muertos.
- Fri. Oct. 23 at 7 PM: Why do we paint our face during Muertos Seasons? Learn about tradition in face painting.
- Wed. Oct. 28 at 6 PM: Noche de Ofrenda - Offering Night: This space is for ofrenda/altar builders and community alike. We will create poetic words for our Muertos and dedications for our ofrendas/altars
- Fri. Oct. 30 at 7 PM: How to create tissue paper cempasúchil (marigold) flowers: Learn to create your very own paper cempasúchils - the story behind why we use them to guide our Muertos.
- Mon. Nov. 2 at 6 PM: Día de los Muertos Virtual Celebration: Be in community starting at 6:00 p.m. on Zoom for the Ofrendas/Altars Exhibition and at 7:00 pm transitioning over to Instagram Live @cpp_cecche for a live DJ set and performances.
Contribute At Home Ofrendas/Altars Exhibition - submit your pictures of your ofrenda/altar to cesarechavezctr@cpp.edu – submission accepted from October 29 – November 1. Ofrendas/Altars will be shown at the Zoom Community Gathering. All are welcome!
